The problems of professional education have always been relevant. At the same time, these problems seem difficult to solve, as they are associated with the formation and development of the individual in the changing socio-cultural conditions of socialization. Consequently, only by clearly imagining the attitudes and aspirations, value orientations of modern youth, it is possible to organize work on their formation. The purpose of the article was to determine the features of the professional education of cadets in a team-type organization as a kind of way of life on the basis of value orientations of students; to design a system of measures for the formation of competencies required for the effective professional activity of water transport specialists. The study was conducted at the Yakutsk Institute of Water Transport (hereinafter: YIWT). It covered 87 full-time students aged 16-21 years. In the course of the study, we used the Rokich’s method of value orientations. The survey showed that the priority values of students are: rationality, sensitivity, honesty, good manners, independence. However, responsibility, education, diligence, efficiency in business, firm will, which are necessary for the professional activities of water transport specialists, are the least important values, despite the fact that these values are significant for the formation of general cultural competencies reflecting the level of professional education. Taking into account these «sinking values», which have a great influence on the level of professional education, a program for the education and socialization of YIWT students has been developed as one of the means of forming and reflecting the way of life in a team-type organization. The formed professional abilities and their result are proposed.

Significant «soft skills» for medical students are defined as «softskills» of a social and humanitarian orientation: communication, empathy, value attitude to the future profession. The results of the research work carried out by students of the 5th year in the framework of the study of the discipline «Public Health and Healthcare» are given; they studied the development of “soft skills” among graduate students of the Department of General Medicine, Institute of Medicine, M. K. Ammosov North-Eastern Federal University, and young doctors. We studied the degree of formation of the initial level of «soft skills» in senior students; it is shown that a significant part of the respondents (85%) have sufficiently developed communication skills: they are polite and attentive to patients; however, a high level of development of «soft skills» is observed only in 47% of senior students. According to the results of the survey, the alternative experience of faceto-face communication with patients in a pandemic in the form of students passing an internship in a call center of medical organizations was recognized as positive. Finally, conclusions are drawn about the need to strengthen the research work of students in student scientific circles of the Institute of Medicine; curatorial work and mentoring. The results of the study can be useful for medical workers, teachers, methodologists and university leaders.

The paper touches upon one of the urgent problems in teaching a foreign language is individual differences and their influence on mastering a foreign language. The author reports the findings of a study that investigated the relationship between phonological short-term memory, working memory capacity and the level of mastery of a foreign language. As an example, we offer to use the English passive voice because it should be noted that the English passive poses considerable difficulty in terms of both explicit and implicit knowledge Grammatical mastery was operationalized as the ability to produce and comprehend English passive voice with reference to explicit and implicit (or highly automatized) knowledge. In the study two tests on measuring the working memory capacity and four tests on estimating explicit and implicit (or highly automatized) knowledge were used. We also considered the final grades the participants received in a grammar class. A correlational analysis showed that phonological short-term memory was related to implicit productive knowledge while working memory capacity was linked to explicit productive knowledge. However, those relationships were weak and mediated by overall mastery of target language grammar. The results show that higher grades played more positive role indicating that overall mastery of English grammar is a stronger influence on the knowledge of the passive than working memory. All this indicates that the impact of working memory is more likely to production than comprehension of grammar.

The former country of the Soviets had a state ideology in the form of Marxist-Leninist philosophy. The specific content of this ideology was given by Joseph Stalin in 1931. In the report of the 17th Party Congress on the work of the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks, the head of the country said: «It is easy to understand how difficult it was for the USSR to pursue its peaceful policy in this atmosphere poisoned by the miasma of military combinations». Asked what were the strong arguments of our country in the struggle for peace, he named the state of the army as one of the reasons. In other words, the country of the Soviets knew that sooner or later a war would happen and it was necessary to prepare for it. Preparations were made in all subjects of the country of the Soviets, including the Yakut Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. However, even under the conditions of the effective action of oneleading and guiding force, the preparation was extremely difficult, overcoming real life difficulties. This circumstance is shown on the example of Yakutia.
