Communication skills of junior medical students

Abstract

The article presents the results of a study of the level of communicative control and sociability of first and second year students of a medical university using the methods of the same name. The relevance of the study is due to the competence-based approach to teaching in higher educational institutions and the need to develop general cultural and general professional competencies in students. In medical education for students of all areas of training, the formation of competencies in the communicative sphere is provided. The study was carried out using tests: «Methodology for assessing the level of sociability» (author V.F. Ryakhovsky), the express method «Diagnostics of communicative control» (author M. Schneider), and methods of mathematical statistics. During the study, it was found that communicative control and sociability are quite highly developed in medical students, but a high level of sociability does not imply the presence of communicative control. Free communication in any company, the ease of establishing interpersonal relationships does not guarantee emotional self-control in a situation of communication, conflict or simple interaction.
