Designing family values of young students in the Far North

Abstract
The paper focuses on the results of design and research activities aimed to define foundations of family values for young people living in the Far North. The work underlines the fact that design and research activities help strengthen family values. The paper aims to describe design and research activities with young students in determining the foundations of family values. At the North-Eastern Federal University, within the framework of the Federal State Educational Standard, organizing research work with students has always been strategically important. In the new realities, students are given a lot of opportunities for self-realization and for revealing their potential not only in their profession but also in various interdisciplinary spheres. In the recent years, according to the results of Rosstat for the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the number of marriages decreases and that of divorces increases; in 2015, 7,668 marriages and 4,087 divorces were recorded, and in 2023, 4,935 marriages and 4,036 divorces. These data reveal a family values-related problem looming in the Far North. To solve it, a clear understanding of family values of the modern young generation is required. The method of projective research activity allows, within the framework of the students’ project, to consider the definition of family values in detail, taking into account the climatic and socio-cultural characteristics that affect the young population of the Far North. Young students were selected as respondents because they are most likely to form new families. We believe instilling family values in students important, as they, having become a young family, strengthen the foundations of social institutions, which are the basis of the state.
